Local elections are taking place Tuesday, November 5. Be sure to go vote for a more sustainable Saratoga! We sent the candidates below a survey to get their opinions on what sustainability means to them, and their positions on how development in the community should proceed. The questions we posed to the candidates are as follows:

  1. Please briefly define “sustainability” and what it means to you.
  2. Many businesses, institutions and municipalities have designated sustainability coordinators. Do you support the creation of a sustainability coordinator or office in city hall or in the county government?
  3. What can we do locally to confront climate change?
  4. What are some of your ideas for sustainable economic development for our community? Do they include casino gambling?
  5. How do you envision the future development of land within the city’s core and within the “greenbelt?”
  6. If elected, what kinds of sustainable activities or projects would you likely retain? How could they be improved? Which ones would you initiate?

Please click on the candidate’s name for his or her responses.
